This episode we discuss Dead Space 2, DC Universe Online, Magicka, Def Jam Rapstar and Breach in new games. Revisit Assassin’s Creed II/Brotherhood, Borderlands, Limbo and Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit from the past. How did we manage to break two XBLA games in one night?  Plus we talk about the common ingredients in both Bulletstorm and Duke Nukem Forever and what makes the finished product feel different.

First half!

  • Dead Space 2 (Maki marathons his way through both discs worth and really enjoys it aside from one section. Also, what is up with Visceral Games’ writers and their girlfriends/wives?)
  • DC Universe Online (Harlo picks up this PS3 MMO and WAIT IT DOWNLOADS 13 GIGS WORTH OF DATA!? THIRTEEN!?!? Ok, with that out of the way, we find out whether or not Batman is unlockable at level 30.)
  • Magicka (It’s Diablo meets Alchemy meets Gauntlet! Kinda! We like it a lot, in spite of the jank!)

Second Half! (47:46)

  • Need For Speed Hot Pursuit (BJ played it and didn’t like it! Pretty, but just not what he wanted. Make Most Wanted 2!)
  • Breach (Harlo gives the multiplayer-only game with destructible environments an actual review that consists of “meh.” Don’t try to make Call of Duty unless you have the budget to make Call of Duty!)
  • Bulletstorm (We are not convinced that we need this game, dicktits!)
  • Duke Nukem Forever Trailer (Yup, we talk about the Duke trailer. INVADERS MUST DIE. Can you tell we’re super-excited about this game?)
  • Limbo (Maki beats it! Is it all style over substance, though?)
  • Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (Harlo and Maki co-op it up and it gives us memories of old Sierra adventure games. Kinda. And then we broke the game!)
  • Scott Pilgrim Vs The World (We all have fun playing co-op, even Tstrel joined in! And then we broke the game! Again!)
  • Def Jam Rapstar (We get all gangsta and drop some rhymes and enjoy the hell out of it, in spite of the T for Teen censorship.)
  • Strongbad Adventures (Harlo finally gets to experience a Telltale game! Pointing & clicking is fun. Especially torturing The Cheat!)
  • Borderlands: Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution (BJ beats the DLC on playthrough 1! Now for the collectible farming…)
  • GP2X System AKA “The Wiz” (Harlo gets a Linux-based portable gaming system. Um, what?)
  • Assassin’s Creed 2 (Maki gets 100% of everything, including the DLC. You could say he enjoys this game!)
  • Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood (Moving directly into the sequel, Maki realizes that it takes a few steps forward but a few steps backward too, unfortunately. Multiplayer is simultaneously fun and broken!)
