Norman Mailer was an American writer who is sometimes credited with the creation of the writing genre known as creative nonfiction. This has nothing to do with this month’s episode however, as our show is about video games. Aside from Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Mass Effect 3 and SSX, there’s also plenty of talk about Draw Something and other games of that ilk. Mmm, ilk.
NQcast36 – ‘Kingdoms of Norman Mailer, I Reckon’ Show Notes
First half!
- Mass Effect 3 (Because we haven’t talked about it enough!)
- Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (BJ becomes the hero of Goldman Sachs or something. And kinda likes it! At least for the first 100 hours!)
- Saints Row The Third: The Trouble With Clones DLC (Chuck says it’s short but good, kinda like my ex-gir… Um, never mind. Carry on!)
- Assassin’s Creed Revelations: The Lost Memory DLC (Maki warns everyone to stay the hell away form this. Unless you desperately want more terrible first-person puzzle sections. Which you don’t!)
- Singularity (Harlo travels through time to an era where story doesn’t matter, only gameplay. And enjoys it quite a bit. Even if he ruined the world. Stupid time travel!)
Second Half! (52:47)
- Joe Danger XBLA (Maki & Chuck compare this to Trials HD. And not particularly favorably. DANGERRRRRRRR!)
- South Park: Tenorman’s Revenge (Chuck enjoyed this game and can’t understand the hate! But he’s bought every single South Park game over, so your mileage may vary!)
- Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack! (Maki enjoys the hell out of this Katamari-inspired side scrolling platformer. It’s almost the best game on Vita!)
- Thor: The Movie: The Game (Chuck hates this game! “Pixellated Blocky Polygonal Jackasses Dot Tumblr Dot Com.” This leads to lots of talk about terrible movie games!)
- Burnout Revenge (We attempt to get some multiplayer achievements before EA shuts down the servers. Sadly, this was a mistake. You can’t go back!)
- SSX & SSX3 (Maki continues to dedicate his life to this series. Just don’t try to play the old games these days. TERRIBLE IDEA!)
- Super Mario World (BJ discovers that sometimes you CAN go back! This leads to talk of the Mario series in the 2000s!)
- FEAR (Throwback half continues as Chuck goes back and finishes FEAR on 360. Slow motion death and ridiculous achievements abound!)
- Red Dead Redemption & Undead Nightmare (BJ kills his horse in various ways. You CAN go back!)
- Tales of Skyrim (Are all of Harlo’s tales now told? Will DLC bring him back? Listen and find out!)
- MOBILE CORNER!
- Draw Something (We make idiotic drawings, which you’ll see below!)
- Connectrode (Maki describes this fun puzzle game poorly! Don’t listen to him, just spend the 99Ā¢ and you’ll enjoy it, honest!)
- Midway Arcade (Chuck declares that if your controls don’t work, don’t put them out for touchscreen systems! Also don’t force us to log into Facebook for leaderboards! Skeeball and Air Hockey are fun, though!)
- Pinball Arcade & Pinball Collection (Pinball! Still not quite used to touching left & right sides to hit the ball, though.)
- Mass Effect 3 Datapad (The easiest free way to get your galactic readiness up… Plus it’s got cool little e-mail tie-ins to ME3’s single player game. Did we mention it’s free? Yup!)
- game (describe)
Pick of Value! (2:34:19)
- Borderlands: Game Of The Year EditionĀ (If you’re wondering why, you haven’t listened to our podcast before. Just buy this!)
