NQcast51 – 2 Last (Of Us) 2 Furious

ku-xlarge

The saddest episode of No Quarters features tears over The Last of Us and The Walking Dead, anger sets in with Fast & Furious: Showdown, and confusion reigns when Dragon Age II and State of Decay are played. Thankfully, joy arrives as Chuck rediscovers Animal Crossing on his shiny new Nintendo 3DS. Also, stay away from kids.

NQcast51 – 2 Last (Of Us) 2 Furious

First half!

  • 1:16 Xbox One DRM reversal (Is the grass always greener? Gamers apparently think so. Microsoft DEFINITELY hopes so!)
  • 11:53 The Last Of Us (A great stealth game that’s not for everyone leads to talk of review scores and expectations. But seriously, play this game!)
  • 33:22 State of Decay (Chuck checks out this persistent zombie game with one HUGE flaw. Well, a flaw aside from being a zombie game.)
  • 40:20 The Walking Dead Episode 1 (BJ abandons his marathon idea and finds himself getting emotional in this episode. We all can’t wait to hear what happens to him next episode! It’s complicated.)
  • 53:24 Jurassic Park: The Game (Chuck calls it “Walking Dead Lite”. Somehow, you play every single character in the game? This leads to having a conversation with yourself at one point. What?)
  • 59:16 Heavy Rain (Maki dives into this PS3 exclusive for Phoenix Down podcast and finds out Walking Dead and other games owe it a huge debt. Just don’t play it with the Move! Check out 3 hours of thoughts here:

  • 1:09:01 The Swapper (Harlo puzzles his way through this gorgeous indie exploration game. Buy it!)
  • 1:13:16 Gunpoint (Harlo continues the puzzle train with this goofy, funny, tricky indie title. )
  • 1:16:58 The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing (Harlo really likes this Diablo-style game. There’s a lot more to do than you think!)
  • 1:21:03 Metro 2033/Metro Last Light (The new one looks amazing, the old one is still european as hell.)

Second Half! (1:28:18)

  • 1:28:25 Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Chuck gets a 3DSXL in order to play this game. Tom Nook and his dirty kids STILL want his money, though.)
  • 1:32:18 3DS Streetpass (Chuck cares WAY too much about getting Streetpasses from other 3DS owners.)
  • 1:39:31 Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (Maki enjoys sucking up ghosts with a vacuum, but wishes the missions were slightly shorter or the game had better autosaves.)
  • 1:43:12 Infamous (Chuck enjoys the territory claiming aspect of this open world superhero game but dislikes the arcadey control scheme. )
  • 1:47:47 Uncharted 3 (Harlo finally beats it, and realizes the best parts of the game are all backloaded into the last third of the game, which is awesome! Also, HORSES!)
  • 1:56:11 Dragon Age II (Chuck hopes to rekindle his love from DA:Origins in its much-maligned sequel. After 16 hours, nothing has happened. Sadface.)
  • 2:04:56 Fast & Furious: Showdown (BJ joins the majority of the podcast members and hates this game. Life is too short to play games this bad. YOLO.)
  • 2:09:25 Forza Horizon DLC (Connection issues destroy Maki’s enthusiasm for this game’s new goals.)
  • 2:11:01 Project Gotham Racing 4 (Kudos to this drift racer for still looking great, even 5 years later.)
  • 2:14:02 Doom (Maki plays the XBLA version on Ultraviolence and without cheats. It’s like a whole new game!)
  • 2:17:37 Unreal Tournament 2004 (It still holds up if you have friends to play with. Get it cheap!)
  • 2:20:13God Of War Origins Collection (Harlo hates the QTEs and the gameplay style of these PSP up-res conversions. Is he over this type of game?)
  • 2:23:17 Mobile Corner!
    • 2:23:22 Ingress (BJ stands on street corners threatening people on other teams. A true ARG!)
    • 2:29:12 Transformers Legends (The bloom is off this free-to-play rose. It’s still fun, but it’s not as good as our initial impressions.)
    • 2:30:21 Avengers Initiative (Harlo tried out the mobile version of this Facebook game, but hit the “gotta pay money” brick wall too early.)

E-mail Corner! (2:34:34)

  • 2:34:42 Ryan AKA Tunnelman lets us know there’s a little more to Dear Esther than we thought. (Spoiler: maybe ghooooooosts!)
  • 2:36:57 Palworth Nuck hates Marvel Heroes and asks us how much we’ve spent on specific games. (Free-to-play and MMOs worry us but Rock Band still takes the cake.)
  • 2:46:30 Zman wants to know our best and worst pre-order games were. (We don’t pre-order many games, but when we do, we have decent turnouts.)
  • 2:51:31 Visit Gamewarp.org and play pinball and classic video games with us and maybe even meet Billy Mitchell on July 26-28, 2013!
