NQcast25 – Sigh

This episode we swallow sadness as after years and years of waiting we talk Duke Nukem Forever. Plus Child of Eden, Red Faction: Armageddon, Brink and plenty more that make us utter more sighs than the previous record. Not that we were keeping score or anything. The Smarmy Jerkface himself, Chuck, joins us again for this the Quarter Century episode of No Quarters.

NQcast25 – ‘Sigh’ Show Notes

Guest Starring SmarmyJerkface Chuck!

First half!

  • Duke Nukem Forever (We vomit crow and eat sadness. It’s not as bad as everyone is saying but it’s definitely not good. Sighs abound.)
  • Child of Eden (We are confused by the storyline for this game… And by whether or not it’s actually fun. Sighs abound.)
  • Bayonetta (Maki officially hates it. Harlo still wants to play, despite the hate! Sighs give way to yelling.)
  • X-Men Origins Wolverine (Maki declares this ultraviolent romp as his favorite game so far this year. No sighs here!)
  • God of War PS3 Collection (Harlo has beaten them already but can’t wait to play them again. Guess we like the ultraviolence! Again, no sighing!)
  • Infamous 2 (“Small, minor tweaks of better” is Harlo’s box quote for this one. Actually, he liked it a lot more than that. A half-sigh.)
  • Mafia II (Chuck avoids prison rape with quicktime events and roams an open world that discourages you from roaming it. Sighs are present.)

Second Half! (49:44)

  • Red Faction: Armageddon (Harlo redboxed this Faction and decided to wait until it’s bargain bin. Sigh?)
  • Vin Diesel Wheelman (One of the best games ever. At least if you enjoy watching other people play it… Long, loud sigh.)
  • Brink (Got friends? Play it. Don’t have any? STAY AWAY. Sigh…)
  • Borderlands (Speedround returns as Harlo beats Claptrap Revolution! Sighs, but only for the random item collection achievements.)
  • You Don’t Know Jack (Chuck almost misses the Turncoat achievement and then cheats to get it. SIGH.)
  • Lego Star Wars: The Complete Series (Maki compares it to Quake 1. Seriously. Sigh?)
  • Rock Band 3 Fender Squier Real Guitar (Maki buys it after it gets discontinued and all are impressed with how well it works. Harlo raves about the Poison DLC pack. Sigh!)
  • Rock of the Dead (Chuck spends $3 on a crap game and we all make fun of it. We also compare it to Typing of the Dead, not unfairly. SIGH!)
  • Demolition!
    • Outland (We debate whether the eventual difficulty spike will be worth playing through. Half-sigh.)
    • Gatling Gears (Nice, long demo and the price dropped to $10, so we’re probably getting it. No sighs!)
    • NCAA Football 12 (Chuck is a hardcore fan but will probably be skipping this one. Sighs abound.)
  • Pinball FX 2 (Chuck and Harlo talk about a lot of the Marvel tables and really like them, especially Captain America. Pinball Hall of Fame: Williams Collection and Gottlieb Collection are also discussed. No sighs this time!)
  • Avatar Typing Horde Invasion (XBL Indie Games comes through with a Typing of the Dead-type game! Now to find a keyboard that works on a 360… Sigh.)

Value Picks! (1:47:54)

  • Lego Indiana Jones (Maki sighs over the sequel containing golden skulls or something like that.)
  • Toy Story 3: The Video Game (Harlo calls it “Red Dead Redemption for kids” if that sells you on it! No sighs!)
  • Deadly Premonition (Chuck goes CRAZY and gives us a dissertation on why this game is like an anti-sigh.)

Third Half Bonus! (1:57:05)

  • Sneak King (Chuck pops it back in. We question the storyline and craft the perfect sequel, while sighing about the difficulty.)
